I've been busy as shit working on a web contract lately so I only just now got the chance to work on the new servers for the first time since they've been installed. Since it took so long to get them from the prepping office to the datacentre there are a number of packages that need updating (nothing that won't finish compiling in the next hour though) and since doing their initial installation I've started a massive update of my virtualization platform at most of my points of presence. In this case the new servers will be outfitted with the new Xen and kernels and the virtual machines on the original two will be moved over. During that time there are also going to be a number of filesystem optimizations and general reorganization of VM functions, which in plain english means the sites will be going up and down. How frequently and for how long is in God's hands. The old servers will then be upgraded to the new virtualization platform and some VMs will be migrated back. Once that procedure is complete we'll be in tip-top shape to launch new services.
